Odeon version 6In version 6.0, Odeon has been improved on a number of points. The major new features are listed below. 3DGeometry debugger
The new 3D Geometry debugger shows possible errors such as overlapping, duplicate or warped surfaces directly in a 3D graphic display allowing fast and safe debugging of errors in geometries. This facility replaces the 'check for warped and overlapping surfaces' which did not provide any graphical feedback. Streaming convolution (Combined and Auditorium editions only)
The Streaming convolution facility, is available from the JobList. It allows continuous auralization directly from the input of the soundcard or from file to the output of the soundcard. One and two channel auralization is supported. HAAS utility
The HAAS utility helps defining the delays and levels of loudspeakers in a PA system. The Grid response
An extra showing 5,10,25,50,75,90 and 95% fractiles display has been added to the 3DGrid display. Quick Estimate
Two extra pages has been added to Quick Estimate in the materials list. With the new facilities it has been made easier to make changes to the absorption in the room in order to obtain a desired reverberation time. Estimates of room volume has also been improved and it has been made possible to make custom runs with as many rays as desired. Reflector coverage
As extra option in Reflector coverage it has been made possible to investigate high order reflections caused by reflectors. Improved Directivity balloon viewer
The directivity viewer has been integrated into Odeon. It is available from the Tools|Directivity patterns menu and from Point source editor. The display of the dB-scale in the viewer has been improved. Directivity polar plot editor
The Directivity polar plot editor is a new graphical tool, which allow creation of directivity balloons from a horizontal and a vertical plot. Modelling surfaces using the 3DViewThe 3DView can be used for visually modelling surfaces from points which has already been defined in the parametric file. This feature can be used for modelling surfaces such as doors in a door hole, a surface closing a proscenium opening or indeed to fill holes where surfaces are missing in the boundary of the geometry - can be quite useful for adding surfaces to a geometry which has been imported from a DXF /AutoCAD file. The 3DView also displays the coordinates of the point closest to the mouse pointer. Displaying Interior and exterior in different colours - and calculating diffraction lossOdeon distinguishes between interior and exterior surfaces. This makes it easier to 'read' the model in the wire-frame displays where exterior surfaces are displayed in black whereas interior surfaces are displayed in a green colour (teal). In the 3D View and in the Material List it is possible to toggle between display of exterior, interior or all surfaces, making modelling and material assignation easier. The knowledge about which surfaces are interior and exterior are used by Odeon in order to improve calculation of diffraction loss due to limited surface size - diffraction loss is only applied to surfaces which are considered interior.
Optimisation of geometry load timeThe speed at which room models are loaded into Odeon has been greatly improved - this is also the case for import of geometries from AutoCAD /DXF-format. The improvement is in particular noticeable for large geometries. Height-ExpertThe height expert is available from the receiver, point source and line source editors. It helps adjusting the Z-coordinate of the insertion points for receivers and sources in order to obtain a certain height above the floor. Before clicking the height expert button, make sure that the source is above the desired floor surface - change the Z-coordinate if needed. Linear and A-weighted sound power levelsLinear and A-weighted sound power levels are displayed inside the source editors. The values are updated whenever any of the relevant input fields (e.g. EQ) are change in the editors. Keyword hint in OdwEdit
When selecting one of the predefined keywords such as Const, Var, Surf or CountPt are selected with the cursor inside the Odeon editor; OdwEdit, the editor will display the syntax for that keyword at the bottom of the program window. If pressing F1, additional information will be displayed in a help view. Modelling languageA single extension has been made to the modelling language in version 6 of Odeon. A question mark ? can be assigned to the NumbOffSet variable. |
